Summer is finally here! Many of our readers will be spending most of their summer working outside in the sun.
To celebrate the sweat equity that goes into every single construction project, we thought that we would make a countdown of the warmest, most intense exterior jobs in the construction field in the summer.

10. Exterior painter
You might think that this job does not have its place within this count down but ask anybody who’s painted a black wall in the sun for 8 hours if they’re not hot. Some colours may be cooler than others, but there is bound to be sweat mixed with the paint on the ground.
9. Roofing
This one is quite evident. I mean when you think of a job that must be hot this summer, roofing would definitely present itself at the top of the list. Working all day on black tiles is not what someone would wear a snowsuit for.
8. Demolition
This isn’t only one of the hottest jobs, but also one of the hardest. Of course, there is a fair bit of it that uses heavy machinery, but the guys on the ground shoveling the rubbles, carrying hundreds if not thousands of pounds of materials a day do have it hard.
7. Carpenter
I am well aware that this job encapsulates a wide variety of jobs, but there can be multiple very difficult jobs for carpenters. Tiling for example, working in tiling in an air-conditioned space is hard enough, having to do it in the heat of the summer is even worst.
6. Masonry
It’s no surprise that moving heavy stones and bricks all day in the heat might make you break a sweat. I don’t think there is much more to say about why this job is hot, you get my drift.
5. Landscaping
When I was younger, my father told me that if I wanted to lose weight in the summer that I should do landscaping. He was not wrong. This is physically demanding job, in Quebec done only in the summer, hence the heat.
4. Rebar worker
Rebar work is definitely not an example of light, easy work. These guys are halfway bent, manipulating heavy metal bars, working with heat, on concrete. They are what comes to mind first when you think rugged work.
3. Tinsmith
Whether it be hanging upside down on a black roof to install gutters, or cutting and welding the metal, this job is definitely not easy. The only reason why we put this job ahead of rebar worker is because this one is done on a roof.
2. Cement and concrete
Just driving over new cement you understand why this job has one of the top positions in this countdown. Now imagine staying there all day.
Hot Roofers
This is definitely the hottest job out there. Not only do these guys work with tar, but with long torches and heavy material.
